View Full Version : Exporting products fails after 1st 20 or so

I'd like to export the entire product database to check anomolies such as incorrect categories, missing prices, poorly formed product names, missing images, etc. The store has 1000+ products.
My export settings are:
allproducts0606.dat
All
Include Category List
Import Products From Flat File (have also tried MIVA Merchant Provisioning)
Replace File
Export Field Names as Header
It starts to churn away, but quits after the first 20 products and jumps back to the Administrative Main page.
Any ideas why this happens?
Have tried this multiple times, including once right after packing the database files. Same behavior.

Are you using the mivasql database or mysql? What version of the engine?

Is it failing after the same product each time? Check the product immediately after the last product being exported - see if you have something strange in it that might be causing the failure.

Using mivasql.
Doesn't always quit after same product. Have had it go a few more products once.

Which version of the engine is running? Hopefully not 5.04.

Yes, 5.04. Why?

5.04 has bugs with mivasql stores that cause it to perform about 5 to 11 times slower than 5.03 did. Unfortunately if you have already applied all the latest updates to your store, rolling back to 5.03 will not be an option unless you can be very careful to not add or remove any modules, including miva modules, while the store is on 5.03. Some of the latest patches required 5.04 but I was told by Miva that you can put 5.03 back on as long as you make sure to not add or remove any modules at all, just leave it as is and go back to 5.04 if you need to make any changes.
Supposedly 5.06 will be out in the next few weeks and will resolve the performance issue. My guess is you're just seeing slowness resulting from the engine, but the server may be a bit slow too because I'd still expect it to complete 75 to 100 products before timing out in a store your size with that bad engine version.

I guess I'll hold my breath for 5.06. I've done enough "customizing" with this version that I'm not willing to roll back and potentially create more problems.
I have noticed poor performance (other than the export problems) and have been very annoyed by it with no definitive answers from support except to clear expired baskets and pack the files.
I hope 5.06 comes out SOON and addresses the problems I've been experiencing. It's hard to help my computer-illiterate client understand the ways and wiles of computer software.
Thanks for the info.
