when i click on a category that has subcategories, is there a way for the left pane to have thumbnails of the subcategories? example:
cat A
cat B
subcat1
subcat2
subcat3
cat C
and when i click on cat B, i see thumbnails of the 3 subcats in the left side of the screen.
TIA

Tia, not sure I understand. Have you put an image in the tree image (catagory/images). This will display the image rather than the text of the category (or in this case sub-categoyr) title.

Yes, if you are using VikingCoders templates, there is a SubCat template that will do this...if not, you need to use OpenUI tokens to call a function that graps the first child cat of the parent cat, then loops through till there are no more matches...pretty sure there was some example code on the old OpenUI.org site...if not Andreas Thomas knows how to do this (hopefully he will pipe up, or you can try a personal message throught this forum.)

EDIT: i meant RIGHT pane. (duh, sorry) where the products are usually listed. instead, i'd like a thumbnail image from each of the subcategories, plus the names of the subcategories.
i will try to contact andreas. thanks, bruce.

FYI, other than category page templates (http://www.jmhonline.net/mmivamerchantmodules/Category_Screen_Modules), there is subcategory navigation (http://www.jmhonline.net/miva-modules/subcategory+navigation) by netblazon. CPT will do what you want and a gazillion other things. SN will do just what you want.
