View Full Version : Price Groups??
Hi all, the price group option seems like it will work for me. however I am trying to figure out how to set it up. How would I get the buisinesses name into the group so I can offer special priceing for them? i would guess to have them make a new account, but how will I know to add them to the group? Im just a bit confused.
Thanks for your time,
Mike

Have you reviewed the docs specifically discussing Price Groups?

Yes, but it doesnt help me. I dont understand how I will let the buisiness know that they have to create an account then I can add them to a price group?

Use either Sebenza's ACD Pro v5 Module (http://www.mivacentral.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=m&Product_Code=SS-ACDPRO5&ref=wpaw) or Weiland's Addendum Module (http://www.mivacentral.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=m&Product_Code=WCW-ADDENDUM5&ref=wpaw) to set a checkbox up in the account create screen that asks if they want to be part of the group etc.
Then you'll see it in the batch report.
Weiland's MailManager v5 may also be able to notify you. I'm not sure if that if part of the functionality.
I was wondering since we are on the topic of price groups...shouldn't MIVA automatically calculate this upon checkout? I have added a price goup but doesn't seem to calculate anything when I checkout on my testing. Thanks.

Have you assigned yourself and products to the price group? And logged in while shopping?

Remember, Customer Account are assigned to Price groups. You will want EACH business group member to have their "OWN" account unless they all use the same name and shipping information<G>.
As for your initial question, aside from what Vic suggested, you could also use the built in Custom Customer fields, HOWEVER --big caveat-- the module route is going to be a LOT less work, and therefore could actually be the less expensive method.

In short:
1. Customer creates an account.
2. You create a price group.
3. You assign products and pricing structure to the group.
4. You assign customers to the group.
Anything beyond that and you'll need to think about how you want to run the program itself.
