HI,
I am trying to delete shopping baskets but get an "Applications timed out" error. I think there are too many. how can I resolve this issue.
Thank you,

You can sometimes delete the old baskets, let it timeout, then pack the store files. Then do it again and again until you are able to get it done.

Or find a developer to clean them out for you.

Hi Chris, check the size of your basklist.dbf and basklupd.dbf file in the mivadata/Merchant2/00000001/ folder on your server; sometimes mivadata may be called htsdata. If the files are massive, like over 100 MB, then you may need to get your host to replace them with empty copies or let me know what version of Merchant you're using and I can send you empty copies of the files. If they're less than 100 MB you could probably get them to pack by just getting your host to increase the timeout on your MivaScripts; just ask them to increase your globaltimeout value from the default 90 seconds to something more, such as 300 seconds. Then do more regular maintenance from now on. :)

Thanks for your response. I'm running Miva Merchant v4.22
Miva Engine v4.1106.
Thanks,

David,

What if I am having a similar problem with Miva 5.04? What files should I be looking out for and would you be able to send them to me?

thanks
jason

Sure, I can send you empty baskets databases for Merchant 5. Any chance you have the Merchant affiliate system activated in your store? That's most likely the cause of that problem and it likely won't go away. We have a customer who has the affiliate system activated, they have the mivasql database version instead of the mysql-based Merchant 5, and they can't delete expired baskets or pack without timing out. We reported it to Miva but have not had any resolution.

David,

Thanks, that would be great if you can send me an empty basket. My situation sounds similar to your clients, tho I can pack files. I deactivated the affliate system, but I am still timing out. Thanks for the help.

Just sent it, I'm guessing the problem will continue returning though, I think it's a bug in the mivasql version of MM5.

You should also ask your host to upgrade your MIVA Engine from 4.1106 to a more stable 4.1400 or better, 5.03 for better performance.

If you still need empty v4.22 databases email me offlist and I'll be happy to send them to you.

Is it possible to send me a copy of the empty shopping cart files? I'm running version 4.20. Thanks!
