QuickBooks Premier does not have a field for order weight. How can we get weights into QB via Synchro or how can we get a printout of Miva 5 orders with order weights?

Hello,

In QuickBooks, you have the ability to assign Custom Fields to each product in your items list. When you are editing an item in QuickBooks, You will see a button to the right called "Custom Fields". Create a new field for weight and you will be able to assign a weight value to your items in QuickBooks.

To go a step further, you can map this new Custom Field to the product weight field in MIVA Merchant. In MIVA Synchro, when editing the properties for your store, click the "Fields" button. This section allows you to set the mapping between all the different fields in MIVA Merchant and QuickBooks.

In the drop-down on the top, select "Inventory Items" to see the mapping for your products. Below that, you can add a new mapping between the "Weight" field in MIVA Merchant and the new "Custom Field: Weight" one in QuickBooks. Add this new mapping and you'll be set. You may need to repeat this for Non-Inventory Items also.

More info about the field mapping in MIVA Synchro can be found on page 17 of the MIVA Synchro User Guide (http://smallbusiness.miva.com/support/docs/synchro/SynchroGuide160.pdf).

Hope this helps.

Hi Jimmy,

Thanks so much for the info! We've got our item weights already in custom fields in QuickBooks, although we hadn't noticed the ability to synchronize the item weights. The piece of the puzzle we're missing is the ability to get the TOTAL ORDER WEIGHT so we can quickly use the QuickBooks shipping function to ship the order. I don't see the order weight in Miva Synchro or the Miva order export data. A tragic flaw in QuickBooks is that item weight is not built in, and there is no ability in QuickBooks to sum custom fields, such as the weight field we've set up. We've investigated Miva reporting modules such as that provided by Viking Coders, but we're not finding anything that's compatible with Miva 5 and will print out (or export) Order numbers and their weights. We'd very much appreciate any help you can provide.

Well, MIVA Merchant, from a database perspective, does not look at the total order of the weight and assign that to the order. It simply sums up the total weight of the items ordered and uses that for shipping calculation.

For MIVA Syncrho to synchronize the total order weight with QuickBooks, MIVA Merchant would need to store that total order weight value in a database field, which it currently does not do.

I'm not familiar with any 3rd party modules out there that would store that extra value, but I'm sure someone could whip one up farily easily.

I don't know why this thread was moved but if this is going to keep happening it will make it even more difficult for developers to monitor support requests. The question is how do you get the shipping weight into MM5 order export file.

Answer: EZ Batch at
http://www.emporiumplus.com/go/wcw/PROD/1AAM5/1AA00211 Having a need for the weight in the orders flat file is not specific to QB so unfortunately the thread has been moved and those who want it for another reason will not know it is possible. Don't get me started on this miopic new technology. Had this been an email from the list, everybody would have taken a second to see if there was something they needed to know, then hit the delete key. But now you have to search forums, follow links to other forums because it was moved, yada, yada, yada. So instead of continuous real time monitoring of emails, folks get a 2 or 3 times a day casual review of tread subjects.

All they have to do to fix this fiasco is to turn the lists back on. It takes way to long to find anything on this worthless forum setup
