Is there any way to define a shipping cost for each individual product, much like the system ebay has in place? Like a unique flat-rate shipping charge for each product?

Thanks!

You could use weight-based shipping. Just make it $1 a pound, then a $5.50 shipping cost for a product would be 5.5 pounds in the weight field.

Dear Austin,

You could use Options and Attributes to assign Shipping Amount for each product.

Or you could use this inexpensive module to give every product a different shipping cost. You can even divide the world into zones and have a different cost for each product in each zone. Shipping by Product by World Zone.

Easy way is to include the shipping for each product as a required single choice attribute -- as a radio button. Assign the shipping price as the price of the attribute choice.

Then set up the standard (Miva built in) weight based shipping mod. Create a method called "Flat Rate Shipping" and set the shipping charge to 0.00 for that method.

Then assign 0.00 as the weight to the products.

With this setup you get the shipping added to the product price (shows separately in the basket).. and upon checkout the shipping choice drop-down just shows "Flat Rate Shipping 0.00".

Nice and neat.

Southlander I like your idea, any suggestions for a company like mine that has thousands of products?

Yes.

1. Use the attribute templates so you can share the attribute among as many items as is possible.

2. Import the attributes.

3. Import the 0.00 weight as a prod. update.

One thing I left out is in the weight based shipping mod. setup. You have to tell it a "ceiling" (max weight) to which the 0.00 shipping charge applies. So the ceiling will be 0 since you just want items with 0.00 weight to use that.
