I am new to Miva, and am working to set up our storefront.

We have few products, and one thing we want to sell is our classroom training. Our trainings are not scheduled ahead of time, but are scheduled as needed per demand (i.e., there are no set dates).

Can this be handled in Miva, and if so, what is the best way?

I was thinking of setting up a category for each type of training, and listing each scheduled training as a product (Class X on Date). I'd need a separate way to track demand, as well as a module which would not charge shipping on the classes. But I'm not sure if this is best.

Any advise?

You could have each class as a product and then use inventory control for the bookings - e.g. if the maximum number of people for a particular class was 12, then you would start with 12 units (i.e. class places) in stock and as people made bookings then the number of units (places) remaining would decrease. When the class was fully booked you can display a "Sold out" message through the inventory control system.

You can give each "product" (i.e. class) a price of $0.00. Then, use the cost field to display the actual intended class price. So, the prospective class participant can see what it will cost for the class but when they book, they aren't actually charged anything.

I don't see a need for a module - this is all doable in standard Miva.
