I am new to Miva and I am trying to determine what module I could purchase to solve a merchandising problem. I have read through all of the options on the Miva Merchant site and none seem to quite fit my scenario. We do a lot of drop shipping from vendors. Those vendors will give a bigger discount if the product is ordered in a specific quantity. I want to pass that discount on to my customer. For example:

Product Item #1001 - 5 Foot Tree
Customer can purchase 1 tree for $100, but if they buy the tree in quantities of 2 they can get a discount of $10 per tree - total cost for 2 trees would be $180.

The tricky part is that if my customer orders 3 trees the total cost would be $280. They would get the discount for the 1st 2 trees but not on the 3rd tree because they broke the pack.

I'm looking for a module that will let my customer order the same SKU either 1 at a time or in a specified case amount. I tried to use attributes but that really doesn't solve my problem. Does anyone know of a module that would allow me to do this in Miva with a single product SKU?

Thanks,
Doug

One easy solution would be a separate product. 5 Foot Tree (2 Pack). Price $180 each.

I agree, two product SKUs would be easy. However, if that is not an option, you could do it with the volume pricing module at
http://www.emporiumplus.com/go/wcw/PROD/1AA/1AA00087
You would set the volume pricing by ranges
1|1|100^
2|2|90^
3|3|100^
4|4|90^
So if they ordered 1 it would be 100 each. 2 would be 90 each. 3 would be 100 each. 4 would be 90 each.

That wouldn't work Bill because he said if you order 3 trees the total would should be $280. $90 each for first 2 and $100 for 3rd.
1=100
2=180
3=280
4=360
5=460
6=540
7=640
8=720
9=820
10=900

Then what about
1|1|100^
2|2|90^
3|3|93.3333^
You'd have to do the math at all the odd numbered levels. There will be a point that it will be off a few cents. Dividing 3 into 10 doesn't work well.

thanks for your suggestions, I think the reality is that I have to setup 2 skus one for single items one for case/packs. And have them as related products to each other so the user can easily see the results. I was hoping there was a subcategory feature for a sku that we could do this under, but it doesn't seem that is the case.

Set up a Category - 5 foot Tree. Assign two products to it. The single and 2 pack. You can display all the necessary product information on the category page, including the add to cart buttons. You are basically displaying both products on the same page. Using that category page in place of the Product Page. Then if a customer wants 5 trees they can add 2 2 packs and 1 single tree all from the same page.

Here is an example on a version 4 store that we run.

The Small, Medium, and Large are actually separate products (for inventory purposes). However when you view the page it looks like you are just choosing the sizes you need.
