I'm coverting from 3.9x to 5.0... and things are going okay. But ran into something that doesn't make sense.
This works: http://www.elookylooz.com/index.mvc
This doesn't: http://california.elookylooz.com/index.mvc
Error: Unable to open 'index.mvc'
Why can't Miva open (run) the index.mvc file wiuth a 3rd level??? The Zone records are set to allow (wildcard) 3rd levels.
Also this doesn't work: http://www.elookyloos.com/index.mvc
elookylooS.com is just an alias of elookylooZ.com. Why can't Miva open (run) the index.mvc file???

Does a normal file (image or html) work? Until you demonstrate its miva-specific I would assume server misconfiguration.

Seems Miva specific...
Works: http://www.elookylooz.com/_images/logo.gif
Works: http://www.elookyloos.com/_images/logo.gif
Works: http://california.elookyloos.com/_images/logo.gif
Works: http://california.elookylooz.com/_images/logo.gif
But Miva ONLY works with http://www.elookylooz.com/index.mvc even if you just remove the www. it stops working!
Gets the error: Unable to open 'index.mvc'
Is there something in the licensing that restricts it to only the one domain name it was installed on and not funtion with the domains aliases? (that would seem weird to me)

It's not a licensing issue - it's a server misconfiguration issue. When you are dealing with 3rd level domains (aks: subdomains) you need to have the server configured in such a way that it knows what to do with .mvc files on these subdomains. How you do this will very much depend on how your host configured the server for processing Miva Merchant pages. Contact them and have them set up the subdomain "california" to process .mvc pages just like you have on the main domain, elookylooz.com.

"Contact them and have them set up the subdomain "california" to process .mvc pages just like you have on the main domain"
That is not possible... Currently we have over 11,631 different sub-domains attached to the domain name, and new ones being added as we speak. Why is .mvc so different then .mv? We don't have to do anything different with the .mv files... they process with any 3rd level you throw at them. The ZONE record is set up with *.elookylooz.com, which means "anything.elookylooz.com". Works fine with the .mv files... why so different with .mvc?
ALSO: Why does a simple domain alias NOT WORK with a .mvc???

Because .mv files are processed by a different version of Empresa than .mvc files. It sounds like they configured that older version properly, but not the newer one that handles .mvc files. That's why. It _is_ a server configuration issue, and you will have to contact them to correct it.

I have been convinced that it's a configuration issue... and I'm leaning towards the http.config file. Just wanted to make sure that there isn't anything in the licensing that will stop aliases or 3rd levels. This is the first time I've ever run across aliases not working with any version of Miva.
