Hello:
Can we ftp product info to miva 5 store using mysql?
We found that importing products from miva admin cause error if the file is more than 500 or 1000 products.
Dennis
No. Adding records to the merchant database is a complicated process. As a record is imported, the database has to be checked to see if it is already there. If it is not, it inserts a new one and assigns it an incrementally created ID number from the storekeys database. If it is already there, it updates the fields that you supply in your flat file upload.

In addition to what Bill wrote... If your store times out importing just 500-1000 products, check with your host to see if it's an issue with the globaltimeout being too short (it sounds like it may be set to the default setting, which may be too short). Increasing it should help, though on shared servers your host may not want to increase it too much so your one domain isn't bogging down the entire server with long running, CPU and memory intensive processes... If you are on a dedicated server, this shouldn't be an issue, though.
As an alternate option - check out StoreMan Pro v5 from Phosphor Media. You can import products off-line, on your own PC, and then simply publish them to your web site in the background. Much better option, in my opinion, than doing large imports natively in MM admin.

Yes, StoreMan5 would be a perfect solution for this (and other annoying tendencies of the Merchant admin).
However, we are just finalizing the internal beta (alpha release) and expect the beta to be released soon. You can sign up below for either the beta or just notification of the product launch.
