Set link closing style on meta tags

For sites with an HTML DOCTYPE is there any way to change the built-in meta tags to not end with the self-closing tag?

You're way behind. Those aren't the last functions to be added like those posts say. Since then I've added export orders to xml, keep customer logged in, parent category of the current category, list/links to past orders' invoice screen, basket weight and basket subtotal.

And here I thought the tool kit was a must have module before...it just gets better and better.
