custom javascript to replace old/dead module

As I'm upgrading from 4.22 to 5.5:

I'm looking to replace some functionality from an old ModStop module:
"Enhanced Attribute Display".

I don't believe a replacement module exists.

When a customer chooses an attribute option from a drop-down box, an image of the option changes located to the right of the drop down box.

What type of solution should I be expecting? How would it "plug" into MM5.5?
