View Full Version : Not sure if this is currently doable in MM5- if not would like to develop it.

I am not sure if this is currently possible by cobbling together several modules with some code or not but this is what i would like to have made for my web store:

First, here is my website - www.amhdesignonline.com

I am curently treating each color variation of a product as a separate product which is making for a lot of products on my category pages (when they are just color variations of the same product). Instead, while i still want to keep each color variation as a separate product in the back-end of MIVA (so that i can keep better inventory control with Quickbooks), on the front-end that the customer sees, i would like the product page template to show one large photo and several small photos of the other color variations (see this link for visual image of the set-up- http://www.verilux.com/full-spectrum-portables/portable-craft-lamp).

When the customer clicks on one of the smaller product photos, i would like it to change the product page to the page for that other color variation.
It will look to the customer like they are just seeing the other color variation product picture as the big picture on the page, but in actuality the entire page is being replaced by an identical one with all of the details and photos of this other color variation (the smaller product photos will still be shown as well).

I hope this description is clear. I know that there is a module (that i have already purchased but not installed) for adding additional product views to the product template page. I would just like to embed a link inside those additional product images to redirect to a new MIVA product page.

Also, I am looking for a solution to my stores page. I currently have to update it through a WYSIWYG editor called snippetmaster and it is a pain. Is there any way to make a small database (excel?) which can automatically update the page? I'd like to ideally show a map of the US cut into 3 sections- NE,MW,W. When the customer clicks on a section of the map, it will bring up a new page with the list of stores for that region organized by state. Does anyone have a way to do this or a module?

Thanks.

Amy, you can handle the colors as product options, each with a unique SKU. Then use the Viking module to track inventory at the option level. This is something that's been done a bunch before, so there's no new modules or special programming required.

Doing the image swaps is fairly easy using HTML/CSS. No module needed for this.

The map thing is very simple, also. It's done in HTML/CSS using an image map. No module needed for this one, either. Just a bit of standard HTML code.

If you need some help doing these tasks please contact me offline. If you know HTML/CSS then you can probably do it yourself.

Steve-

Thanks for your reply. A few questions for you to make sure i understand your reply.
I want to keep each color variation as a separate product with a unique MIVA product code. I want this because i use MIVA synchro to download my orders into quickbooks. In quickbooks, each color variation is a new product with a unique product code (which matches the MIVA product codes). Can i use product attributes (such as a drop down menu) and associate them to a different MIVA product code so that when they choose a new color from the drop down menu, the picture will change along with all of the other details on the page?

Also, on creating a database for the Stores page, i would like to do this so that i can easily add or delete stores from my website. I'd like to export my customer's store info from Quickbooks into a spreadsheet and then be able to easily update the info on the stores page. I don't believe that can be done just with HTML/CSS. The map can be done with HTML/CSS, am i correct?

Hello? There must be some MIVA Merchant programmers that are reading this list. Is there anyone available that can work with me to change my products page and stores page?
Please see my original post for what i am looking to do.

Thanks
