I have a problem and I need help... I keep getting products that get corrupted in my database. One week the product will work, the next week it wont, then whole sections will get corrupted.. I dont know what the hell to think anymore.
Then when a product gets stuck I cant delete it.... And everytime I ask a questions how to delete it, people here tell me hire a professional, and theres like no way to delete dead corrupt products without corrupting the whole database.
So either I get some help or I'm going to consider Miva a real POS and find something else that works...
k - thanks all help is appreciated

Hello kahonwes,
Problem comes in everything and in every business. So, you should first try to fix that.
Please let me know if you are getting any error messages or any symptoms which suggest you that the database is corrupted. Also, how oftenly you pack you store data files? What database do you use? Is it MivaSQL or MySQL?
You can also email me directly (ben@emediasales.com ) or put your comments here.
Best Regards,
Ben

Hello,
This issue has nothing to with Empresa v5.06. It could very well be that you have not fully patched your shopping cart with all the available updates. If you are fully updated and you continue to have this problem please contact us in support.

Couple more questions:
Have you edited the database directly at any point in the past?
Are you importing your products via flat file or putting them in manually?
Do you use Microsoft Word to copy and paste your product data?

Hmmm, this sounds suspiciously similar to another thread at http://extranet.mivamerchant.com/forums/showthread.php?p=66973 for those who haven't noticed the duplicate note.

The suspicios post is mine. As for how I add products, I add them manually one at a time which is fine by me. As for full patching my shopping cart, you got me there its also mivasql database from what I can tell.
As for directly editing the database, yeah I had no choice, products keep getting errors, and dont want to be removed. so unless someone else can explain how to remove a product that wont delete from within Miva... Then yeah...
I have had this problem from day one.... The server people upgraded the software to 5.06 then the problem went away for about 2 days, after that. I still get what I deem dead products.... Its been driving me nuts, especially when I have a website where products prices need to be updated almost daily sometimes..
As for packing the database. I pack the database everytime I add a product.... Mostly because I have the time to do it, because I also update in store cash register prices at the same time..
As for problems coming in every buisness, yeah no kidding tell me something I dont know..... Life is full of problems, the problem is I need technical help....
I've considered deleting the entire Miva and having it reinstalled and what not, but thats my last resort, currently I'm going to have our server add another Mall. Mostly, because I would like to use it to test things out also...

If by "mall" you mean using an Additional Store License to add a second store to your existing domain... I'd hold off on that one. If you have such an unstable platform to work on, using the same platform for testing is probably not a good idea at this point. Testing something on a misconfigured server or domain can be very frustrating when you try to duplicate your work on another store and get completely different results.
In another thread you mentioned deleting some products outside of Miva Merchant, using a DBF editor, which in itself most likely broke a few things in your store already - simply because deleting products themselves doesn't remove the other data cross-linked in multiple databases that have info about the very products you manually deleted.
Fix what's broken first, before adding any more products, stores, or anything else to your existing store. To be honest, at this point I'd reconsider doing a complete reinstall and move that to the top of the priority list, so you can start from a properly working platform. Right now you may have databases so out of whack that it may be a long and tedious process to get all that cleaned up.

As much as I agree with everything you want, I still want another Miva Mall anyway to toy with... I called my server and there looking into the problem on there end, second I cannot call Miva as there phone number dont work in Canada.
I'll admit I probably the database is corrupt but then why is it. Products work one day, sometimes they done work at all, and sometimes they just go dead, meaning Error codes.
From day one I have been trying to get someone to figure out what is wrong with it, and sometimes everything will be fine for a month, then go haywire on me..
Second question is, when a product does go haywire and gets an error, how does someone like me delete it. though I would assume there not supposed to go bonkers and get corrupted.
Anyway I appreciate the help... All I know is if this Mall gets re-installed I need it back up asap. So having another Mall installed will save me time. Mostly by putting alot of html code on the site.. well not alot, just alot of time putting it in there...

Hmmm, that's very odd... While their toll-free number may be blocked for calls out of country, their regular phone number, 1-858-490-2570, should work from anywhere in the world. Have you tried that one?
You can also open a support ticket on their web site, if need be - they have more ways than one to reach them.
k,
I asked a couple questions in your other thread. If you answer them, I may have an idea on what is going on.
