By now we all go the email special from Miva:

End of Life Sale on Subscribe2 PRO - Only $99 for a Limited Time
http://smallbusiness.miva.com/specials

What do you guys think? Is it a good product? Right now I use Constant Contact and I'm so-so happy with it, would Subscribe2 PRO take care of my needs the same way Constant Contact works?

I'd rather pay a one time $99 fee than pay the monthly fee with Const. Cont.

Thanks for your input.

Yes and no. Subscribe runs off your existing server, and you'd first need to check with your host to see if you can utilize the mail server for bulk sending (some block this ability).

There's also an increased risk of being put on a spammer's list. Especially if subscribers at AOL are using the REPORT button as a delete button.

We also sell the module at the same pricing, but can offer some additional support.

No. You want Scot's Mailing List (http://www.jmhonline.net/miva-modules/scot's+mailing+list) instead. Subscribe2's integration module isn't even available for v5. scot's mailing list also has more features, etc. Both lack essential tools like segmenting individual lists but that is it for miva mods/applications. I personally now use Oempro (http://www.octeth.com) now and have used subscribe2 pro and scot's extensively.

Pamela, thanks for your response. I'll look at your website and look at your product. Does your module utilize or not utilize the existing server that my store runs on? Is there a way around that? Meanwhile I'll check with my host. Thank you. --R

It uses your existing server. However, you could use a different server as well. The signup form would work just the same.

But, as Jason pointed out, there is no integration module for version 5 - that just means that you can have a signup on your site, but there's no checkbox for auto signup during checkout. So if you don't care about having that, then it would work.

The other one he mentioned was Scot's Mailing List, which is more robust, but it really depends on all the features you need.

You can find a comparison chart between the two here:

Cost: jmhonline.net lists Scot's Mailing List for $79.99 while designextend.com lists it for $149.95, why such a big difference.

Also, how does Scot Mailing List compare to 4 Mail Manager v5 Emporium Plus by Bill Weiland for $45?

The price is $149.95 - his links to MIVA Central and that's the price.

Mail Manager is NOT an email list manager. That's a tool for shooting emails to others based on what specific products are ordered (such as notifying vendors of a sale or sending additional info out to customers).

Okay, thank you Pamela. I'll keep this in mind for the near future. I'll save this thread and get back to you. Have a great day. --R

Scot hasn't updated the price. It is the same at both.

Two different modules which do different things. hth
