Sorry to invade the community forum :)

We're close to booking the dates for the next Miva Merchant conference and are looking at February 27th, 28th and March 1st (a Thursday - Saturday arrangement).

Are there any major world or industry events we're not considering that conflict with these dates?

LOL - think you missed the Partner's Forum but the dates sound good to me! :D

Yeah I didn't want the post just limited to Partners, it's more of a community event :)

Yup! I would like to meet a lot more end users at this conference. The last conference seemed more like a vendor-fest.

Closest thing is Affiliate Summit West Feb. 24-26 in Las Vegas. I'll be going to that, so it's a double trip. Wish the Miva event was in Vegas!

Then there's:

February 26-28, Search Marketing Expo (SMX) West
Place: Santa Clara, CA

I'm and end user. I'll be there. Do you know how cold and nasty it is in Chicago at that time of the year?

See you Leslie and Pamela too!

Rick,

Please check the calendar. Next year is a leap year. Feb 27 is Wed. There is a 29th in Feb. So is it 27, 28, 29, 1 or is it 28, 29, 1? Are the beginning and ending days full days? For example, on Saturday does it go to 4PM or does it stop at noon?

Would you believe I already have people asking me what hotel this is going to be at?

Rick Wilson
10-01-07, 11:58 PM
The conference itself will not be at a hotel but at the Marina Village Conference Center (where it was held in 2003).

We're currently setting up a discount blocks of rooms at a few hotels in the area. If people are anxious to book now I would recommend the Bahia Hotel or the Hyatt Islandia.

Thanks for moving so quickly on this! Question - will you be offering guest passes to be able to attend things like the mixer and the BBQ? Or is that the $100 second registrant?

Rick Wilson
10-04-07, 10:09 PM
The second $100 registrant can attend the whole event. This is a great question for the community, if there's a lot of spouses, etc... who would like to attend the welcome mixer and the BBQ we can come up with a pass for that.

Feedback?

I know of 2 spouse that would like to attend the social events.

Two hotels are listed for the conference. How far from the conference center is the Dana on Mission Bay? Without a car, is that a long walk? Is Feb the rainy season?

Rick Wilson
10-24-07, 07:48 PM
The Dana is about 100 yards from the location, it's directly across the street.

Normally Fedbruary isn't rainy, we're looking into backup plans for shuttle service in the event of rain.

All in all if your plan is to only come to the conference and not explore San Diego at all you should be fine without a car.

Earlier this month you mentioned, "We're currently setting up a discount blocks of rooms at a few hotels in the area. If people are anxious to book now I would recommend the Bahia Hotel or the Hyatt Islandia."

Is the Bahia further from the conference or did they not have good rates as they are not mentioned in the conference announcement?

leslienord
10-24-07, 08:21 PM
I booked at the Dana at $139 - I thought that was pretty darn good. Have you looked at the rack rate for there?!?

Rick Wilson
10-24-07, 08:45 PM
While I enjoy the Bahia, it is not an easy walk and they wouldn't work with us on the rates.

Is the Dana on Mission Bay the same as Dana Inn or am I imagining there was such a place?

Rick Wilson

They fully remodeled the whole place about a year ago and I think they changed their name at that point.
