How does upgrading Empressa affect a site? Should there be site backups done be fore Empressa is updated? Can it have any negative effects? We are still running MVM 4.14 and I was wondering if I should have our host update to the most current (5.06 I believe).

Upgrading Empressa doesn't affect any files on your site. Your host should upgrade you to 5.06.
Site backups shouldn't be require but I guess that depends on the host.

Empresa 5 has been known to cause issues with Truxoft mods in some cases, we usually don't upgrade customers from Empresa 4 to 5 if they're running Merchant 4 with Truxoft mods, unless they ask and then we advise them to watch the site closely for a bit afterwards.

Then I think we will stick with 4.14. We use UltraBatch and Privacy Policies from TruXoft.

You may want to consider having your host implement your privacy policy at the server level in the web server config; nothing wrong with using the module to do it but it doesn't cover static pages and having one less module called always helps, even if just a minute amount.

Over a year later, is this still an issue? truXoft mods and MVM5.06 still a bad mix?
