Logout not clearing basket - bug or feature

In Merchant 4x if you had items in the basket and were logged in, then decided to log out, the basket was cleared. In Merchant 5x, this is not the case. An availability (or price) group member can be logged in and put restricted/discounted products in their basket. They can log out and the products remain in the basket. It is not cleared like it was in 4x. This presents problems 1) if you don't want the availability group person to be eligible for additional discounts during checkout, 2) they are on a public computer and the basket is left full when it should have been cleared.

Is this a bug or a new feature as designed in Merchant 5x? If bug, can we get it fixed?

This is something I noticed awhile ago, and I believe I was told it's a new feature, but I agree with you that it should be considered a bug. I have my logout screen written in PHP, so it would be pretty easy to fix the bug yourself if you go that route. Logging a customer out is fairly easy.

Perhaps Alex could comment on this and why it is a feature or bug. If feature, then a new module will have to be created to fix it. The basket should be cleared when the customer logs out.

Hi Bill,

Although I wasn't the one to make this decision, I do believe this was intentional.
However, I see your point on this issue and will bring it up in our next development meeting.
