I Installed Miva Mailer 2.0 Bronze to start. I have the following questions

a) I do not see the opt in box anywhere in the storefront. I do see the Miva Mailer quick subscription tab. WHat do I need to do to have the box show up somewhere? I do have a customized category tree, so I do not expect or want the box to show up in my category tree.

b) I want to create a page (which I will provide a link for) which takes customers to where they can opt in. On this page I want to show them the different kinds of subscription lists they can join. I have tried creating a page with all kinds of combinations of the documented method in the Miva Mailer documentation, and it always gives me an error. A sample of something that works would be appreciated.

c) I want to send back a message once the customer opts in with a thank you and a coupon. I do not see any way to control that, or even create a thank you message. In the docs it says it is an ADVANCED feature. what do I have to do to turn on these ADVANCED features?

Thanks
Sam

Hi Sam,

a) What's the URL to your store? When you installed the module, it should have created a Quick Subscription template for your storefront. By default, it appears in the page template in the category tree. Try moving the mvt:item name="quicksub" element somewhere else on your page (ex: global footer, etc). You should then see the subscription list with checkboxes, etc.

b) When not logged in, customers can only "quicksubscribe". When logged in, they can set their subscriptions by default on the account page. You should also be able to move this item anywhere in the store.

c) Please point me to the location in the docs where it describes a thankyou message sent upon subscription. I don't believe this feature is available to bronze accounts.

Best,
James

James
Thanks.
c) On docs for opt in responses - just look at the help in merchant mailer (once you get out of Miva Merchant by cliking the Click Here button) when you try and create an email, template etc. In those help docs, it lists several things as ADVANCED in red.

Is there an account type that the response to opt in messages is available? If so - what is the mechanism for me to change my account level?

On items a) and b) I will try your suggestions. I am assuming I can put the item quicksub into any page. Is there an item that I can put in that gives them choices on the lists as well? (Like emaillists )

I would really like to offer prospects a coupon whenever they subscribe. Is there any way to capture the quicksub info and turn it around so I can send them an email with the coupon and thanks

Thanks
Sam

Hi Sam,

After some research - the advanced features you reference are available in our partner's product only if you buy from them directly, but not our implementation. This is a private label system, and we use the partner's API to expose features into MIVA Merchant, then redirect you to our private labelled interface to create and send emails. Incidently - if you purchased from them directly it would cost a LOT more. :)

I've asked our developers to look into how we could provide some of these features (ex: welcome email) via the API. For now, the feature list as described on our web page should be considered the full feature list.

Best,
James
